I've tried a number of french presses and this one is by far the best. Problem with the others is it is too easy to crack the glass and replacements are not cheap. The 17oz actually is good for about 14oz of coffee because of the pouring spout. That is perfect for me! The stainless steel is very heavy duty--I actually dropped this on ceramic tile and the bottom didn't even dent!
